Your privacy matters to us. NeedCashToday is a loan matching service operated by Lending Room Limited, an independent New Zealand finance broker registered on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSP486566). This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have. We handle your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
This policy applies to your use of the NeedCashToday website and to any application you make through us. It should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions. By using our website or submitting an application, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described here.
In this policy, "we", "us", "our" and "NeedCashToday" refer to Lending Room Limited trading as NeedCashToday. We are a finance broker and loan matching service. We are not a lender and we do not lend money ourselves. Our role is to assess your situation and match you to the lender on our panel most likely to approve your application on suitable terms.
The information we collect depends on how you interact with us. It may include:
You do not have to give us your information, but if you do not, we may not be able to assess your situation or match you to a lender.
We collect most information directly from you when you complete an application, use our calculator, contact us or use our website. We also collect information from third parties where you have authorised us to do so, including credit reporting bureaus, the lenders on our panel and, where relevant, identity verification providers. We collect technical information automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you visit our website.
We use your information to:
To provide our service we share your information with the lender on our panel that we consider the best fit for your application. Where relevant, we also share information with credit reporting bureaus, identity verification providers and trusted service providers who help us operate our business, such as technology and hosting providers. We require these parties to protect your information and to use it only for the purpose we share it.
We may also disclose your information where we are required or authorised to do so by law, or to protect our legal rights.
As part of assessing your application, we carry out a soft credit check. A soft credit check does not affect your credit score and is not visible to other lenders. When we submit your application to a lender, that lender may accept our soft check or may carry out its own credit check, which may be recorded on your credit file.
You can request a copy of your own credit information at any time from the three New Zealand credit reporting bureaus: Equifax, Centrix and Illion.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the site function, to remember your preferences and to understand how visitors use our site. We use analytics tools to measure website performance and improve the experience we offer. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work correctly if you disable them.
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. This includes technical and organisational safeguards such as secure storage, access controls and encryption where appropriate. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, and you provide your information to us at your own risk.
We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as we are required to keep it by law. When we no longer need your information, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. To make a request, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page. We will respond as soon as reasonably practicable. In some cases we may need to verify your identity before we can act on your request.
Some of the service providers we use may store or process information outside New Zealand. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected by comparable safeguards to those required under New Zealand law.
From time to time we may send you information about our service that we think may be of interest to you. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our messages or by contacting us.
